Angel Tree: co-ordinates with local churches to bring Christmas gifts to inmates’ children and throughout the rest of the year works with your church to help inmates’ families grow in their faith, strengthen the children's relationship with an imprisoned parent, and helps children and their families to fulfill God's purpose in their lives. www.angeltree.org

 

Centerforce: a national organization based in the San Francisco area. Providing services for the last 30 years to prisoners and their families, including family reunification plans and parenting groups, peer education for prisoners, GED program for inmates, special services for inmates with HIV, visitation facilitation and resource materials. www.centerforce.org/programs  
Family & Corrections
Network (FCN):

an organization for and about families of prisoners, offering information, parenting programs for prisoners, prison visiting, returning to the community, the impact of the justice system on families, and prison marriage. Also provides on-line support  groups and chat rooms.  www.fcnetwork.org

 

Friends Outside
Los Angeles:

community-based operations in eight counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Contra Costa.  Services include: discounted bus tokens to visit inmates or to access community-based assistance, emotional support, family holiday events and advocacy.  For inmates, Friends provides assistance with maintaining positive relationships with prison staff, help finding jobs, support groups and resource referrals.  All services are provided in English and Spanish.

Jesus-based ministry providing religious guidance to inmates and their families, as well as creating a network of community resources of faith-based organizations to facilitate re-entry programs, reduce crime and recidivism, and to expand “smart justice” to meet the needs of victims, offenders, and the families involved.  Takes pride in bringing people from prisoners to pastors.  www.prisonfellowship.org

 

United Prison Ministries
International:
a faith ministry not supported by any church or organization providing free Bible lessons and life-changing books to prisoners around the world. Extensive presence in California, caters to the “young and hip”.   www.upmi.org
