The Law Office of Tara Selver is unique in its approach to the practice of law. The firm maximizes client control and minimizes your financial outlay.  We allow you to decide quickly whether you want to pursue a criminal appeal, a habeas corpus petition, or continue with an immigration matter.  We put the client in control.  After being given legal advice by an attorney who has expertise in the appropriate area of law, you decide how far you want to go in the legal process and how much money you want to spend. With our approach you do not need to pay a substantial fee without knowing the quality of the legal services you will receive, nor the amount of personal attention the attorney you’ve retained will provide you. The Law Office of Tara Selver also refers you to support services you and your family may need in addition to the legal services required at this critical time.  For the client’s convenience, all our services are provided in English and Spanish from the website in both languages, to telephone conversations, to translation of legal work.

OUR PROCESS

Step One
Free: Fill out the client intake form.

Step Two
Free:  A lawyer who has expertise in the relevant area of law will be designated to defendant’s case.  You will receive an initial evaluation by e-mail from the lawyer regarding what the defendant’s legal options are.

Step Three
Based on the legal options presented, you decide whether you want to pay for a personal phone consultation with the defendant’s lawyer. By the time of the consultation, defendant’s lawyer will have spoken to the trial attorney, completed preliminary legal research, and determined whether there are any viable legal issues to raise.

The lawyer will discuss with you:

  • what you / defendant think went wrong in the case
  • the facts of the case in greater detail
  • the available legal procedures and their consequences
  • the likelihood of success for each legal option

For the above services and the phone consultation, there is a flat fee of $250.00, with a one hour maximum for the phone conversation.  Should you decide that you would like additional phone time, it will be charged at $200.00 / hour, in half-hour increments.

Step Four
If you decide to proceed, defendant’s lawyer will tell you what the next step in the legal process is and how much it will cost.  The fee spent on step three will be credited to the cost of step four.  You decide whether you want to take the next step.
